Select a monster's shape and skills by changing your mask. While hiding in the bushes, you can easily ambush and lure enemy heroes into a trap. This also allows you and your teammates to gain an advantage over the enemy due to their inability to see you.

The game mode called Capture the Flag is often played in the Catalyst Black gamemode. The objective of this mode is to return the flag to your base after you and your teammates attempt to steal it from your opponent's base. This mode features a long distance between bases; players respawn in 3 seconds. Professional and skilled players can keep matches that last up to 40 minutes. If all players are experienced, then they can hold flag carriers who go incredibly fast. Great teamwork is a must if you want to win; it's essential to have nine teammates. And the player who holds the flag — even if he’s the fastest — needs protection from the other players. In Flag Hunter, your team must defeat monsters anywhere on the map to protect flags from them for anywhere between 30 and 75 seconds. This is similar to Capture the Flag; however, flags are not located on the opponent's base. Instead, they are anywhere on the map, so flag carriers defend the flag instead of returning it to their base camp. Fights on the map take place due to constant fighting among the combatants because flag carriers must be present to defend the flag instead of returning it to their base camp. For bonus points, collect the Keepers' cores after defeating them. There are no formal rating systems for games currently created on Catalyst Black. However, the intense competition encourages players to fully immerse themselves in the game by providing them with a tutorial for each game mode prior to playing a real match.
